🇬🇧 English
Seven corks. Two words. One single moment: the one in which an artwork ceases to belong to its creator”.
“Auction — Bidding” captures the most significant threshold in an artwork’s journey: the moment when creative value meets public recognition and the desire to acquire transforms into a cultural gesture. It does not describe an event — it identifies a permanent condition. It transforms the lexicon of the art market into artistic matter. On every cork, two letters mirror each other: on the front face, a letter of AUCTION in real silk rose with blue and emerald patterns — the colour of the event, the saleroom, the light. On the reverse, the corresponding letter of BIDDING in greige real silk graduating to cream white — the colour of the gesture, the raised paddle, the whispered bid. Two words from the same semantic world, opposite in function, indissolubly linked in form. On the top cap of each piece, the letter of AUCTION is engraved with stabilised Indian ink — not printed, not applied, but incised into the very matter of the cork. And it is not centred: it shifts left, right, upward, downward — like the auctioneer’s head searching for gazes in every corner of the saleroom, chasing the paddle, awaiting the bid. Only on the final cork does the “N” settle perfectly at the centre: Going once. Going twice. Sold. The hammer falls. Every bid is not merely a financial offer. It is an artistic stance, a manifestation of trust, the recognition that an artwork possesses the capacity to traverse time. Every bid is not merely a financial offer.
“Auction — Bidding” inaugurates a collecting lexicon in which each work extends the previous and prepares the next. Hammer. Provenance. Caution. The vocabulary of the art market becomes the vocabulary of CorkFashionArt.
🇮🇹 Italiano
Sette tappi.
Going twice. Sold. The hammer falls.
